Finnish Boars in Poland

Finnish swine genetics is now available from Poland's largest AI station. Figen has made a three-year contract for delivering 125 boars to the Polish AI station. Furthermore, Figen's breeding program has been registered in Poland.

The cooperation was sealed last summer when the customer visited the Längelmäki test station and the first 24 boars were delivered to Poland in September 2019. The second batch, 39 ready-to-use boars, left for Poland on 18 May 2020. The delivery went smoothly, although the corona pandemic caused a little extra tension. The customer’s first comments about the boars were positive.

In recent years, Finnish genetics has become an interesting option in Poland. Customers are looking for more efficient and higher quality genetics. Good animal health, sustainability, quality and performance are valued in Polish pig farming, says Johanna Kylä-Lassila, Export Manager. At the beginning of the year, Figen had several projects with different customers, but they have had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic that broke out in March. The delivery of 140 Landrace gilts was cancelled at the last minute when the borders closed, and there was not yet information on safe transport for all parties.

The Polish boar station praises the good productivity of Figen boars and the good quality of the seed. Interest is also growing in the boars of the Muscle sire line.
